I just finished draft one!
It’s pretty craptastic. It jumps all over the place in leaps and bounds with nary a smooth transition to be seen.
It contains at least one character with multiple names, personalities and backgrounds.
But wait, there’s more! If you read draft one in the next ten minutes, I’ll include all kinds of telling vs showing and other terrible writing techniques. I’ll even leave some of the best character development and fancy pants poetic imagery behind on the cutting room floor.
Man I gotta take a break, haha.
I think I consumed 80 lbs of coffee beans and ripped out 5 lbs of hair during this part of the writing process.
But you know what?
I’m working backstage at a play for the rest of the week, and then there will be inevitable drinking, laundry and recovery days. And there’s still the matter of that pesky job hunt.
I’m aiming to dig the story back out and start the next round of revisions by the beginning of October.
Thanks for all the great advice and encouragement so far! Happy writing, blog people.
